Born and educated in the Pacific Northwest, Dr. Shapiro came to the the Bay Area in 1988, joining Dr. Paul Fraser in private practice at Seton Medical Center. She has been in charge of the small OB/GYN practice since Dr. Fraser's retirement in 1995. Her emphasis at Women's Health Group is individualized care. She takes extra time with each patient to develop the best treatment plan. Dr. Shapiro has extensive training and experience in minimally invasive surgical techniques such as hysteroscopy, laparoscopy and robotic-assisted daVinci laparoscopy. She has worked closely with interventional radiologists in order to refer appropriate patients for UFE (uterine fibroid embolization). Dr. Shapiro has privileges at Seton Medical Center, Mill-Peninsula Hospital and Campus Surgery Center. Dr. Shapiro continues to love her work as she learns new techniques to offer her patients.
Dr. Shapiro is married to Lou, a high school teacher, and they have three wonderful daughters. In her leisure time she enjoys hiking, biking, playing the bassoon with the North Peninsula Wind and Percussion Ensemble, family dinners, and watching the occasional sporting event.
